Twenty-year-old singer-songwriter Sekou is making a striking return with his latest single, Catching Bodies, accompanied by a stylish music video directed by Iggy London. The track signals a bold shift in the BRIT Rising Star nominee’s sound, pairing an ethereal, cinematic opening with an assured lyrical stance that leaves no doubt about his creative direction.

Bright and upbeat, Catching Bodies blends a lush, symphonic arrangement with the energy of modern pop and the warmth of nostalgic soul. Sekou’s vocal performance carries the song with ease, radiating self-confidence and urging listeners into a space of their own unshakable assurance. “I have been waiting so long for this moment,” he says of the release. “Catching Bodies feels like the perfect song to put out after a lot of setbacks. The timing feels like the start of something beautiful.”

The single debuted on BBC Radio 1 with Jack Saunders and has already garnered early praise from artists including Lola Young and Ty Dolla $ign. It follows a career trajectory that has seen Sekou deliver a standout performance on Later… with Jools Holland, secure a BRITs Rising Star nomination, becoming the youngest nominee in the award’s history and land in the Top 10 of the BBC Radio 1 Sound Poll. With nearly 200,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and more than half a million social media followers, his audience continues to grow.

Sekou’s collaborative résumé is equally impressive, featuring work with industry heavyweights like Justin Bieber, Central Cee, and Kevin Abstract. Earlier this year, he contributed vocals to Bieber’s SWAG album on the track “TOO LONG” and was spotted in the studio with Fred Again.. He’s also supported Reneé Rapp on her Snow Hard Feelings European tour and appeared on Central Cee’s “Limitless.”

With Catching Bodies, Sekou doesn’t just reintroduce himself; he reclaims his place as one of the most exciting voices in contemporary neo-pop soul. It’s a confident, revitalized chapter that suggests his momentum is only beginning to build.
